About
The relationship between participant and clinician is a unique experience and not one Kate takes for granted. She believes your story is your story and healing comes through the intention brought into the therapy space by both provider and client. As a therapist, Kate is committed to being a source of unconditional positive regard, asking hard and important questions, offering observations to identify connections in experiences, exploring and challenging negative self beliefs, offering tools and skills in the capacity desired, and celebrating the ups and the downs of the process. She believes human growth, change, and healing is most easily found when we allow ourselves the chance to be uncomfortable. Kate is a Certified Master Accelerated Resolution Therapy Practitioner and have found it to be an incredible tool for increasing healing with life’s big and small difficulties.
Education and Background
Kate began her professional path in secondary education and continues to love and value the learning process. She values the opportunities she’s had to gain professional experience in these settings; Educational Crisis and Behavioral Support, Adolescent Day Treatment, Supportive Housing and Co-occurring Disorder Programs, Hospital Mental Health and Addiction Units, and serving on the MN Board of Social Work. Kate holds degrees in Education, Communication Disorders, Clinical Social Work, and Addiction Counseling and can thoroughly understand and support the complexities of being a learner while also navigating many other life-roles concurrently. Kate is currently a member of the MN Board of Social Work and enjoys supporting public well-being through the regulation of social workers in the state of Minnesota. Kate has been a part of The Equity and Diversity Impact Assessment Committee with Minneapolis Public Schools and has been honored to use her professional skills to serve in this role as a Minneapolis Public Schools alumni and parent.
As an individual and a clinician, Kate is committed to prioritizing her own growth, healing, health & wellness and can be frequently found laughing and playing games with friends and family, browsing personal growth books at a local bookstore, taking walks in our beautiful Minneapolis and county or state parks, trying to stay up-right on her (Covid-splurge) paddle board, practicing yoga and rowing, advocating for human and animal rights in as many ways she can control,
creating art in as many ways possible, listening to Harry Potter audio-books with her children, baking and trying new recipes, and continuing to keep local coffee shops in business.
