Minnesota License #LPCC 2894
Josie is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over eight years of experience providing compassionate, trauma-focused, culturally-informed mental health care to diverse communities.
Josie truly believes in meeting people where they are personally and being able to walk alongside others on their healing journeys. Josie strives to be able to create a safe and comfortable space to talk about, and move through difficult things in our lives. Life can be a challenge but Josie understands that with a supportive safe community we are able to find ways to navigate challenging times. We may not always have the answers but knowing we are not alone can make all the difference.
Josie earned her Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Anishinaabe Language and Culture Revitalization from the University of Minnesota. Her clinical expertise spans emergency psychiatric care, trauma-informed therapy, substance abuse treatment, and equine-assisted psychotherapy through the EAGALA model.
With specialized training in and actively practices Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mind Body Medicine, Josie brings an integrative, evidence-based approach to her work. She is particularly skilled in serving the Native American and other diverse urban populations.
Josie is committed to providing accessible, holistic mental health care that honors each client’s unique cultural background and lived experience. She is an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe and her culture is something she holds very close to her heart. Josie also has a passion for the arts and being with animals. Often, when Josie is not working, she is out on the farm, riding horses or in the cities enjoying time with her family and her beloved dog enjoying nature together.
