Sophie Fesser (they/them), MSW, LGSW

Graduate Social Worker
Sophie works with both adult and adolescent (13+) clients. As a queer non-binary provider, they are passionate about providing culturally-competent care to the LGBTQ+ community
Sophie believes that the relationship between client and practitioner is of the utmost importance. They strive to create an environment where clients feel safe to explore their truest selves. Sophie prioritizes building rapport with their clients through humor, gentleness, and authenticity. They strongly believe that a client’s stories have the power to illuminate their unique path toward growth and healing.
Everybody’s story is shaped by the world around them, and Sophie understands that the way society is structured leaves many clients isolated and marginalized. This is why Sophie works to understand individuals’ struggles within the context of the different systems surrounding them. Drawing from abolitionist and liberationist philosophies, Sophie knows that our collective healing begins with the individual.
Sophie works from a strengths-based framework and aligns with modalities such as Internal Family Systems and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. They have received training on trauma-informed care and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Sophie is a life-long Minnesotan and has been calling Minneapolis home for over 10 years. Outside of being a therapist at Cabot, Sophie loves reading, drawing, creating eccentric makeup looks, and spending time with their loved ones.
